corrupted public key or certificate

In my case there was an extraneous carriage return/line feed in the Notes certified public key field for the staff member I was trying to renew the cert for. Once I removed the extraneous carriage return/line feed, and saved the person document, I was able to renew the certificate with no error. (fyi on save other Notes certificate fields filled in fine too). Hope this applies to someone who is experiencing the same error.
